Poe is a Pacific Parrotlet. She is a beautiful little bird with a huge attitude! She is mainly Blue with beautiful Gray eyes...quite a knock out! ;) She is a woman's or a man's bird... Most of the time, she doesn't bother you, but if you reach in her cage to do something (clean, change seed, etc...) and she is in one of her feisty moods...she will march right over to you and nip you. It doesn't hurt very much, but she'll let you know if she doesn't want you in her cage. She does come out of her cage and will perch, however, she is a clumsy flyer and does need to be watched for safety reasons. She LOVES getting her head and neck scratched by my husband and will coo and make funny noises. Her previous owner handled her quite a bit, so she is hand-tamed for the most part. She does not like any sort of loud sounds and will complain until they stop. Examples of this are crumpling plastic bags, loud appliances, children playing, dishes clanging, etc... She likes it quiet for the most part. That's basically all she's known for her first years of life, however, we feel she will adapt to some noise over time...since we've seen a slight improvement in the short time she's been in our sometimes crazy home.
Poe should be the only bird in her cage. Her previous owner informed us that she does not do well with other birds in her domain. She will tolerate other birds in the room with her and talk back to them, but only on her terms. She loves looking out the window and talking to herself in her mirror toys. She also loves her cozy hut and will look at you intently when you talk to her. She enjoys her millet treats and is on a seed diet, which we are working on expanding to include more healthier foods also. Despite her attitude issues, she is a very sweet bird! She will do best in a home with a primary male caregiver and no other pets in the house, except maybe a small bird or two in a separate cage. If you are looking for a little companion to hang out with on a quiet evening, definitely come to visit with Poe. She'll add a love to your home like no other.
